Sunshade louver

Aluminum louver sunshade systems are adjustable slats made from aluminum that help block direct sunlight while still allowing airflow and some natural light. They are commonly used on pergolas, windows, patios, balconies, commercial buildings, and sunrooms.

The main advantages are:

Better shade and lower heat buildup
Reduced glare from direct sunlight
Improved privacy
Better airflow compared to solid walls or roofs
Modern appearance
Long lifespan with very little maintenance

Aluminum is one of the best materials because it does not rust, is lightweight, and can handle rain, snow, UV exposure, and strong winds. Powder-coated aluminum is especially popular because it keeps its color longer and resists fading.

There are two common types:

Exterior aluminum louvers usually give the best heat reduction because they stop sunlight before it enters the space. Interior louvers are easier to maintain but are not as effective at cooling.

For maintenance, aluminum louvers usually only need cleaning every few months with mild soap and water. It is also good to check bolts, moving parts, and motor systems occasionally. Aluminum does not rust and generally requires much less maintenance than wood or steel.
